The Corridor Clothes Rack and umbrella stand is a versatile piece for the entrance hall, or for use in bedrooms with minimal storage space or inbuilt wardrobes. It is made from reclaimed mixed hardwood timber from decommissioned fishing boats from the northern coastline of Java, and powder coated metal in a mottled metallic colour finish. The boat owners are paid for the decommissioned hull providing them with much-needed income to put towards a new vessel. The timber is stripped on-site, and transported to the factory to produce a new lease of functionality to the precious timber resource. Each piece will differ in wood tone and colour showing evidence of it's previous function on the high seas. Knots, burrs, bolt and nail holes and paint remnants of the brightly painted hulls may be noticeable on each piece. This is not considered a flaw, but a tattoo of the past experience of its previous life, warts and all! Reclaimed, recycled and reborn- embrace life sustainably, one step at a time.
