The tables are made from the Burl of old river red gum trees in the Koondrook state forest, surrounding the Murray River. Each of these burls were cut down for the health of the tree between 20 and 40 years ago, by a licensed arborist. After slabbing, the burl slabs have been left to dry for 5-10 years before being made into furniture.
Red Gum Burls of any size larger than 50cms in diameter are increasingly rare to find. In the Koondrook state forest, there are many Red Gums over 400 years old, these larger burls often come off trees that are at least 100 years old.
The legs used are black powder-coated metal.
